Feds sentence Youngstown man for selling powerful drugs in city

YOUNGSTOWN - A two-year-long undercover investigation has resulted in a Youngstown man being sentenced to ten years in federal prison for selling powerful narcotics on the city's West Side and South Side.
Jarrell Martin of South Dunlap Avenue appeared in U.S. District Court on Tuesday where he was given a 121-month sentence.
Martin, 33, pleaded guilty in September to seven charges including distribution of Methoxyacetyl, Carfentanil, Fentanyl, Heroin, and Cocaine; possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl and Methamphetamine, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
An affidavit filed by an FBI Task Force officer says that confidential sources were given government money to make fifteen drug purchases from Martin between June of 2019 through January of 2020.
The affidavit says five of the purchases were made along Mahoning Avenue on the West Side, while nine other drug buys took place on West Indianola Avenue on the South Side.
One of the purchases took place at the dead-end of Matta Avenue next to McGuffey Elementary School on the West Side, according to the affidavit.
The drugs that were purchased were tested at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Most were mixtures of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, and cocaine.
