Akron Children's scheduling COVID-19 vaccines for ages 6 months to 4 years

Mahoning Valley - Parents who want to get their young children vaccinated against COVID-19 can now schedule an appointment with Akron Children's Hospital.
Children ages 6 months though 4 years are now eligible for a 3-dose regimen of the Pfizer vaccine, as it was recently approved by the FDA and CDC.
The vaccine will be offered at all Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics offices in the state of Ohio, including its Urgent Care Center in Warren and QuickCare Centers in Austintown and Boardman.
"We know parents have been waiting for this vaccine," said Dr. Rob McGregor, chief medical officer for Akron Children's. "At one tenth the original adult dose, we are confident this is not only an effective but safe vaccine for our youngest children. The 3-dose regimen has shown to be quite effective during clinical trials, including against the Omicron variant of Covid-19."

The three-dose Pfizer regimen is as follows: 3 weeks between dose 1 and 2, followed by 8 weeks between dose 2 and 3.
