Town hall meeting tonight to address 20 Federal Place evictions

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A local organization will be holding a town hall meeting Monday, July 18 in reference to the recent eviction notice sent to tenants of 20 Federal Place.
Local group ACTION will be hosting an informational meeting regarding the recent notice. ACTION's lead organizer, Vicki Vicars told 21 News she highlighted her requests for the aftermath of this notice in a letter to Mayor Jamael Tito Brown.
These concerns will be discussed at the meeting itself.
"The things we're asking for from [the city] are a smooth transition for the tenants affected, financial assistance to move if they need it, a designated person in the administration to be the go-to if they have any questions," Vicar said.
Vicar says while ACTION is pleased with the work done so far to update the building and create new opportunities for the city, they are "discouraged" by the treatment of these tenants.
"We believe that moving forward, accommodations can be made that create opportunities for them as well, so that their businesses can continue to thrive," Vicar said.
Youngstown Councilman Julius Oliver, Youngstown Flea Founder Derek McDowell and Penguin City Brewing Company co-owner, Aspasia Bernacki will be attending the event. Local marriage specialist and counselor, Michael McNair will be moderating the event.
Additionally, Youngstown Law Director, Jeff Limbian, Director of Community Planning and Economic Development, Nikki Posterly, Interim Director of Finance, Kyle Miasek and Mayor Brown were all invited to the event.
