Swensons burger chain opens its doors in Boardman

The Akron-based burger chain Swensons is now open in the Valley.
"From the moment we broke ground, the energy in Boardman has been incredible. It feels like home," said Swensons' CEO Jeff Flowers.
The drive-in restaurant, located on Route 224 where Nicolinni's used to be, specializes in burgers and milkshakes. Swensons doesn't offer dine-in, but instead delivers your food curbside. When you pull into the parking lot, pick a spot and turn on your headlights. A server will come to your car, take your order, and bring your food back out to you.
"We grill every burger fresh, and it makes all the difference," Flowers commented.
In June, Reader's Digest named the restaurant the home of "Ohio's Best Burger." Their signature burger is called a "Galley Boy," a double cheeseburger with two special sauces and a green olive on top. They also have chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, a veggie burger named "Salad Boy," and much more.
Founded in 1934 in Akron, Swensons now has 19 restaurants in Ohio. The Boardman location is the first in the Mahoning Valley.
Swensons is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, they're open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
