National Weather Services confirms tornado hit Boardman
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Boardman at around 5:44 p.m. Sunday.
Classified as an EF-Zero, the weakest level of a tornado, the tornado brought 80-mile-per-hour winds with a width of 15 yards and a path of 127 yards.
Sunday's storms caused structural damage to a building behind the Southern Park Mall.
Parts of the roofing were torn off a commercial building along California Avenue at York Avenue.
A birds-ey view of the damage submitted by Alex Bloom shows shingles and roofing ripped off in two places along the west end of the plaza, exposing insulation.
Property records show that the building was constructed in 1993 and valued at just under half a million dollars.
A viewer submitted a video of swirling debris outside the mall during the storm.
