BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Someone who served eight years as a Democrat in Congress and was sought her party’s nomination to run for president may seem like an odd choice as guest speaker at a local Republican Party event.  However, Tulsi Gabbard has been chosen to highlight the Mahoning County GOP’s premier event of the year.

The former congresswoman is scheduled to address Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield.

The U.S. Army Reservist served four terms in Congress, representing Hawaii as a Democrat until 2021.

Gabbard did not run for congress in 2020 but made an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination for President.

This past fall Gabbard broke from the Democratic Party, tweeting: “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism..”

Tickets are on sale for the event staring at $125 per person.

For $350 per person, attendees can take part in a VIP reception that includes a picture with Gabbard.

The price for a table of eight is $1,000.

The VIP reception is set for 5:30 p.m.  Doors open to the main event at 6 p.m.

Tickets are available at GOP Headquarters on Market Street in Boardman or online at mahoninggop.com.
