Kennywood offering free admission to first responders, military personnel opening weekend

PITTSBURGH, Pa - Kennywood's opening weekend is right around the corner and the park is celebrating by honoring to those who serve to keep us safe each day.
The park will be offering free admission to police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, corrections officers, EMTs, military personnel and healthcare workers during opening weekend, which takes place Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23.
Additionally, these first responders will receive discounted admission for up to four friends or family members. Proof of identification is required for this promotion to be honored.
The park is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year and is celebrating with 125th Celebration Weekends. The event will span over five weekends beginning April 22 and lasting until May 21.
The event will pay tribute to the eras of the park's past with entertainment, nostalgic photo ops, historical displays, commemorative giveaways and merchandise honoring the past 125 years.
The park will also be debuting a new ride over Memorial Day weekend called Spinvasion. According to a press release, this will be "the first ride of its kind in the U.S."
Kennywood's website describes this upcoming ride as follows: "What starts as a classic experience turns into next-level fun as you race parallel to the ground. One moment you crisscross up and down with other pilots and the next you're rolling together in giant waves to defend the city from alien invaders."
