East Liverpool is getting some more financial help with a multi-use path in the city's downtown area.

The city is set to receive $375,000 for its riverfront trail path, which will connect the city to the Ohio Greenway Trail.

This is phase 1.2 of the project, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)

The money comes from the Clean Ohio Trail Fund, which is distributed by ODNR.

According to the ODNR, the fund was created to assist in trail projects with the goal of improving outdoor recreational opportunities.

The money from the fund can go towards a variety of trail project elements including land acquisition, construction, engineering, and design.

"These new trails will encourage more people to get outside and discover all the natural wonders Ohio has to offer," Gov. Mike DeWine said. "These local projects will highlight the state's diverse landscape, demonstrating another reason why Ohio is the heart of it all."

In total, $6.2 million was given out for new projects across the state.
