Even more cats rescued from Youngstown home in animal hoarding case

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Animal Charity is still hard at work taking care of dozens of cats and two dogs that were rescued from two separate properties in Youngstown.
Previously, 21 News reported that 28 cats and two dogs were removed from two homes on the 1800 Block of Ridgelawn Avenue. Now, Animal Charity Coordinator Jane MacMurchy tells us that number has increased to 50 cats and two dogs as of Friday, March 22.
MacMurchy tells us it will still take some time for charges to be filed since the investigation is still going on. Humane agents have been checking the homes daily trapping them and putting food and water inside.
While no official time frame has been given for the investigation to be completed, MacMurchy tells us she hopes to finish investigating the homes by the end of the week.
As for the animals' conditions, MacMurchy says most of them are still dealing with upper respiratory issues. Additionally, some still have wounds and one cat is missing a paw.
All animals are on medication and are being monitored at this time.
