The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that claimed the lives of two people.

According to the release, the crash happened at 10:50 a.m. Monday on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township in Columbiana County.

A black Chevrolet Suburban was traveling eastbound on Route 62 while a Chevrolet HHR was moving westbound. The HHR went left of center, hitting the Suburban head-on.

State Troopers say the driver of the Suburban was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the HHR were pronounced dead on the scene.

Both the driver and passenger of the Suburban were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
