East Palestine looking for business proposals for historic train depot

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - Folks looking to launch a new business but aren't sure where to start may be in luck.
East Palestine officials are looking for business proposals to fill an open spot at its historic train depot near the corner of North Market Street and West Taggart Street.
Along with the East Palestine Community Improvement Corporation, the village has opened the opportunity for existing businesses, organizations or entrepreneurs looking to start something new.
This was made possible thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Opportunity Appalachia program. The funding is for technical assistance services to aid in the redevelopment of the historic depot.
The village will not receive that money directly, but will benefit from the services of architects and consultants who will develop concepts and estimates for the interior renovation of the site. They may also conduct a market study or create a business plan for its end use.
A viable business plan for the open space can be submitted here.
The building which dates back to the mid-to-late 1800s, has been dormant for decades.
Mayor Trent Conaway has a vision for a museum at one end of the depot.
