Gas prices in North East Ohio climb by 10 cents as U.S. conflict with Iran begins

NORTHEAST OHIO - Gas prices in Northeast Ohio are up by 10 cents since last week according to AAA's East Central Gas Report, potentially due to recent events in the Middle East.
On Saturday the U.S. launched strikes on Iranian nuclear sites sparking increased hostility between the nations.
In response the next day Iran's Parliament voted to block the Strait of Hormuz, an important crude oil trade route that handles almost 20% of global oil traffic.
According to AAA reports the final decision is up to Iran's Supreme National Security Council, but the possibility still has markets spooked.
Gas prices are primarily determined based on the price of crude oil meaning as oil gets more expensive - you pay more at the pump.
