MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Power has been restored to more than 8,000 homes and businesses in Austintown and Youngstown that went dark Tuesday evening.

Electricity went out at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for 6,200 Ohio Edison customers in Austintown and about 2,000 on Youngstown's West Side.

Calls and emails flooded into the 21 Newsroom from people complaining about repeated outages in the area as recently as Monday.

FirstEnergy spokesperson, Lauren Siburkis tells 21 News that the outage appeared to be caused by a wind-related issue with a tree falling down and cutting power for the area.

According to FirstEnergy's outage map, as of 3:30 a.m. Wednesday all customers affected by the outage have power restored.
